With regards to the sudden disappearance of all the water on the pitch yesterday, I paid a visit to the ground to uncover the drainage hole at the top left hand side of the pitch, along came Paul, and we then managed to lift the drainage cover ( which is off the playing area ) to enable the water to escape at a tremendous rate !! this procedure must be carried out whenever there is any heavy rain forecast, so that we do not have the "lake" that occurred yesterday, just a little tip I would like to pass on.

Thank you Tony, well done today, could be ok tomorrow, forecast is for drying winds / cloudy conditions, the wind will dry the playing surface out very quickly, but conditions underfoot will be a problem, at least there should be very little rain ( if any ) just let's hope we have a game !!

The pitch doctors have worked tirelessly this past week to rescue the playing surface from a watery grave. Hopefully this and the medication should help it pull through, but still plenty to do now we know the cause. The reason is a lot more deep rooted, probably one that we will not get to the bottom of for a few months.

I would like to thank everyone who have been involved in maintaining the pitch over the past four months, you have all done a great job with the various elements of the weather that have been thrown your way, it is not easy to maintain the standards that are required, as I well know.
Well, now that I have returned as your Groundsman, I have enjoyed the past week preparing the surface for the Whitby and Reserves games that have been played, the surface has been dry, with the "water table" reduced, so the rain that is now due will make a big difference, hopefully, but not too much please !
Pitch yesterday was fine, marked out ok, ready for our Easter Monday home fixture V. Nantwich Town ko 3.00pm, just have to watch the amount of rain that will fall over the next couple of days, with strong winds moving across the North West, should help to dry the surface out quickly on Monday, let's hope !

Paid a visit to the ground today (3.00pm) to see what the surface was like, a few pools of standing water in the usual places, forked them away, and I am pleased to report that everything should be ok for tomorrow, the overnight rain, with the help of the strong winds has dried out the whole pitch.
But, and it is a "Big But" there is a storm approaching overnight with strong winds and heavy rain, which should clear early morning, leaving a cloudy/sunny day to follow and by 3.00pm the pitch should have recovered, just like today.
I will visit the ground between 10/11am to see what the situation is, at least Nantwich are only just over one hour away.

Just returned from the ground, after the overnight rain standing water again in the usual places, used the "Bow Com" sponge roller to remove all the water, with the help of Bill and Dave, big thank you to both of you, great help.
Well the game is on, let's hope we only have some light showers ( if any) forecast is ok for the rest of the day, maybe some sunshine !

Good luck with trying to repair the storm damage Peter, the winter has knocked this club down in a way it has not seen in a long time.i too would like to put on record my thank you to bill from the cricket club,Chris west (yet again) and tony brown for having to deal with problem after problem, these damaging storms brought to the club over the winter.but it's fair to say the club turning a blind eye to problems, and burying its head in the sand when things need to be sorted out doesn't help either, and with that said ,these storms may be a blessing in disguise,so a repeat of the mistakes is not made again.i would also like to put on record a big thank you to Stan West, for the everyday jobs he did for the club before the current sad events unfolded, thank you Stan also to your Chris and the rest of the family, for the time, effort and passion that many convince themselves they achieve, but in reality will never come near to that of your own.

Thanks Stu, yes, they have all done a tremendous job over the past 4 month's.
Just returned from the ground, very wet, to say the least, but it will dry out over the next 24 hours, best day of the week on Thursday for weather conditions, so I will be there to mark out, whilst the sun shines !! (please keep off the pitch today, thank you) anyone free, you would be very welcome.

Pitch ok after last night's games, replaced all the divots, light rain then began to fall, so I had to call it a day, all marked out for the game tomorrow v Barwell, but the forecast is for heavy rain showers overnight, continuing during the day on Saturday, so I will have to take a look in the morning at the conditions, let's hope we miss most of the bad weather.

Thank you Lorraine, much appreciated, I have only just logged on tonight, sorry for the delay,
After a 9am start to ensure the game would be on, and to inform Barwell (who were leaving at 9.30 this morning ) we managed to fork away all the standing water, with the help of Dave, George,Kevin, Les,Tom, and Stuey (who performed so well with the "Bow Com" roller ) a huge thank you to everyone who assisted down at the ground today, without your help I doubt if the game would have taken place, also I must not forget our Chairman Paul, who spread several barrow loads of sand in the goalmouths, when everyone helps it makes everything so much easier, once again thank you all, shame about the result, but a real "Blood and Thunder" game, which we should have won, plenty of incidents, on a difficult surface, but I suppose a draw was the right result in the end, only two more home games, thank goodness !!

After our meeting today with the FA, they could see for themselves the atrocious condition that the playing surface was in after all the heavy rain, the whole pitch was under water, with no chance of even walking on it, so thank goodness we do not have a home fixture on Saturday, I have no chance of operating any machinery at all, which means with the forecast for more rain ( each day ) the Maghull LCC Semi Final on Sunday, looks in doubt.
Whoever is organising this game, please be aware of the situation at this moment, we will just have to take each day at a time, and see what develops, even the reserves game next Wednesday April 13th V. AFC Fylde Res, could be in doubt !!
Will be at the ground (weather permitting) on Saturday morning approx 11am, along with Paul to see what we can do, anyone free to assist ? the more volunteers we have will make the work easier, please do your best to attend.
