The pitch played very well on Wednesday night, but unfortunately after the deluge this morning, (and what a downpour that was !!) the pitch is now saturated, with pools of water everywhere !! Will inspect again on Friday, but unless we have two clear days of dry weather, and a good drying wind, it will be difficult to do any prep for Saturday's home fixture V. Garforth Town, further downpours will just "top up" the standing water, that is unable to drain away !!
As I have said before, the drainage system has been working overtime recently, and it just cannot remove the standing water quickly enough, but rest assured, we will do our very best to make sure that the game will be played !! keep your fingers crossed !!( and everything else for that matter !!) more info tomorrow.

As I was inspecting the pitch this morning, looking at all the standing water, the snow arrived, which has made the situation even worse !! Do not be fooled by the sun appearing later today !!( with a start tomorrow of sunshine !!) the drainage system will not be able to remove all the surface water, in time for our game V.Garforth Town, will be at ground early Saturday morning, to confirm.

As Bryn and I arrived at the ground this morning, we both did a "Triple Salsa" across the car park, to which Gordon Johnson awarded us 10/10 !! " That was better than Torville & Dean !!he shouted !! ( I am still trying to work out who was Torville !!) no comments please !!
Pitch was saturated and frozen, so the next game should be on Boxing day, Burscough V. Marine, followed by our home game on Monday January 2nd V. Bamber Bridge, weather permitting of course !!
Well, must get my "Footy Fix" today, so I am off to watch Southport V. Mansfield Town, to see how our ex Skem players perform !!

Called in at John Mallinson's at 10am this morning, approx 30 minutes later, Gary arrived to Verti Drain the pitch !! I could not believe it !! it was like winning the Lottery !! four hours later we had a pitch covered with 10 inch deep holes everywhere !!
This will make a massive difference to the drainage, should any more heavy downpours occur over the next few weeks, so the outlook for the Christmas/New Year fixtures, looks very good.
Yes, even if it rains, there should be no standing water, but the surface will be soft, which will be playable anyway. Will mark out tomorrow, Friday, and apply fine sand down the Verti Drain holes, were we can. The only problem we may have, is a possible frost over the weekend, but I am sure we will be ok for Burscough V. Marine on Boxing Day, followed by our home game V. Bamber Bridge on Monday January 2nd.
May I wish you all a very Happy Christmas, with a Healthy & Prosperous New Year.

Thank you Standbanger, compliments of the Season to you !!
Pitch in excellent condition, for todays Burscough v. Marine fixture, ko 3.00pm. The grass has been growing during the recent mild weather, (all grass will grow when the temperature is above 10c / 50f ) just wish we were playing at home on such a good surface !!
No doubt it will "cut up" but the weather will be in our favour during the next few days, for us to prepare the surface for our home fixture v. Bamber Bridge, on Monday January 2nd ko 3pm.
See you at Prescot !!

Completed work on pitch yesterday, (all divots replaced / lightly rolled ) with all the recent bad weather, the pitch is in the best condition ever ( for this time of the year ) ready for our home fixture v. Bamber Bridge on Monday January 2nd, ko 3.00pm.
Looking forward to the team to produce their quality, fast, passing game, on a surface more suitable, than some of the pitches recently played on, do your best lads, we have given you the stage to perform on, go for it !! you can do it !! good luck and best wishes !!

Many thanks Graham, I will now do my best for this great Football Club, to ensure that we receive more awards over the coming seasons.
As you are all aware, it takes many hours of "hard graft" to achieve the standard that is required, to produce a good playing surface, believe me it is not easy !! but with the effort put in by Nick Robertson, and what I have taught him over the past few seasons,( hopefully he has taken on board) he will achieve the same honours !! but he knows it will not be easy !!
After the recent heavy rain (pouring down in Ormskirk now) I will check the pitch on Sunday morning, to see what the conditions are like, forecast is for a sunny day !! and again on Monday !! we shall see !! will keep you all informed as usual.

Ground visit yesterday to see what the conditions were like, very good !! even after all the recent rain !! pitch draining very well. At this moment it is pouring down in Ormskirk !! will see what it is like at 9.00am on Monday morning, weather needs to change over the next 24 hours, so all this rain can drain away, to give us any chance, just not letting up !! will keep you all informed.
May I wish all our readers, a Happy and Prosperous New Year !!

Just finished down at the ground, pitch all marked out, in excellent condition, phoned Bryn just to inform everyone re todays game V. Bamber Bridge. ko 3.00pm.
Drainage has worked very well, to remove all the surface water, after yesterday's downpour, only problem I had was searching for the corner flags !! eventually found them in the most unexpected place !! the person responsible will be called to account, and have all four flags deposited up the nearest orifice !! this is no good for my blood pressure !! see you later.

Ground visit today, to view the "damage", well, I must say that the overnight rain has worked (as usual) to our advantage !! it sorted out all the minor divots etc, and the surface was holding some water, but it looked in remarkable condition !! thank you rain !! (for a change)
Thursday, now looking as the most suitable day for pitch prep, for the next fixture on Saturday January 7th, Burscough v. Ashton United, then on Sunday, Liverpool Ladies Reserves V. Coventry City.

After todays Liverpool Ladies game, Arthur (who was on duty) informed me that the pitch was in good condition considering all the rain we had !! the "light footed Ladies" did a very good job of levelling off the surface !! thank you girls !!
Just to inform you all, Tommy has requested the use of the pitch on Tuesday night, to hold a full scale match, and to view some additional players, that is very good news !! if anyone can sort it out, Tommy will !! rest assured.
So come along if you have the time, just to see the quality football in training, that will be continued when we play Ossett Albion next Saturday !! yes, we are all very disappointed with the current situation, but let's keep our heads up ( everyone at the club) and certainly the players, we all know they have the ability, they need our support now, more than ever !!

Weather was perfect today, pitch in great condition for Saturday's home fixture v. Ossett Albion, just mark out tomorrow, and we will be ready !!
There will be a frost tonight, and also on Friday night, but that will not cause any problems, the sunny conditions forecast over the next few days will ensure that the Main Stand touchline (that is always in the shade) will be ok, for the 3.00pm kick off !! will keep you all informed !!
