The Liverpool County FA has announced the winners of this year’s local FA Community Awards presented by McDonalds; the first of a three-stage awards process. The FA Community Awards aim to recognise and reward people across the country that make a difference to grassroots football in their local community – the people who dedicate their time to developing tomorrow’s young talent and help ensure safety and best practice in tens of thousands of clubs up and down the country. The awards offer a chance for all those involved in grassroots football to shout about the person, or team of people that have made a real difference to their experience whilst playing or just being involved in the beautiful game. Winners are awarded at a local, regional and national level, allowing plenty of opportunity for grassroots football heroes across the country to be recognised. The winners from Liverpool for this year’s local awards are: FA Charter Standard Community Club Award – Marshalls Football Club FA Charter Standard Development Club Award – Skelmersdale United FC Youth Academy FA Charter Standard Club Award – Skem Men-Aces Disability Football Club FA Charter Standard League Award – Craven Minor Junior Football Club Volunteer of the Year Award – Karl Bell (Quarry Green) Young Volunteer of the Year Award – Josh Drever (Waterloo Dock / Liverpool FA Youth Council) People’s Choice Outstanding Contribution to Community Football – Frank Meadows (Crosby Stuart FC) Steve Swinnerton, Senior Football Development Officer (Clubs & Leagues) at the Liverpool County FA, said: “The FA Community Awards presented by McDonalds provide a wonderful opportunity for us to shout about the grassroots heroes we have within Merseyside. Football is such a powerful sport and has shown its ability to bring people together time and time again. This wouldn’t be possible without the hard work and dedication of volunteers and clubs, whose invaluable contribution to the growth and development of football locally ensures that the game continues to positively influence many people’s lives. “On behalf of everybody at the Liverpool County FA, I would like to thank everybody that took time to nominate for this year’s FA Community Awards, and congratulate all of our winners.” Read more at www.liverpoolfa.com/news/2016/may/liverpools-grassroots-heroes-acknowledged#Ize0tmvzJSMtQfkK.99
