Enjoyed our first visit to Skelmersdale, thanks to the Skem fans who spoke with us and made us feel welcome. We hope to see you in the James Grove Lounge for the return game in December.
A good game I thought, you gave us the runaround for the first twenty minutes. Your passing, movement and ball retention was much quicker I thought. As the half went on, we gained confidence and started to get ourselves into the game. I thought we might have scored when Tilt headed over from a corner but in truth it would have been unjust for us to be leading. At half time we would have taken a point but again, I thought you started the half better with our keeper having to make a couple of fine saves. Your goal, even from our end looked like an end of season bloopers DVD contender but in truth the goal was coming. In true Halesowen style though, our lads never know when they are beaten and should have been given the equaliser when Christie's shot was a good yard over the line. The linesman clearly didn't see it, much to the amusement of the two Skem fans behind the goal with us. Our equaliser was a fine strike, and I think considering the battling performance we put in against one of last seasons better teams we deserved our point! Fortunately the M6 was less painful going home and the journey time back was only 90 minutes instead of the 180 minutes getting there! See you in December Skem fans...

Unlucky BLUEBOYS, did well enough to win that game some good footie played by everyone. One game doesn't make a season but Tommy may have just built us ANOTHER footballing team.

I think we passed the ball well at the start and should have made more of all the corners we had in the first ten minutes. Fair play to the fans who came up from the South, but I think most of the noise when they scored came from the players and staff (especially that bloke with dyed hair who looked like someone from "Black Lace" (I half expected him to sing "Agadoo") I think the Ref had a poor game, but was intimidated a bit by the Halesowen players who with their swearing and general poor sportsmanship spoilt the game. I was not behind the goal when the ball is alleged to have crossed the line, but there was clearly a foul by the Halesowen player in the build up (again I don't know how the Ref missed it) so it was justice that there was no goal given. The sending off was a time wasting exercise gone wrong unfortunately, I'm sure Connor knew he was off side as the whistle blew several seconds before the keeper took him out deliberately and to me both players should have walked. Fair play to the scorer of the equaliser he took it really well and I was disappointed. I was glad to hear the final whistle to put an end to an unpleasant game it wasn't a pleasure to watch (or listen to!) There are a lot of teams in this league who use bully boy tactics and it's not really our way (hence the nationwide fair play award we won) and Halesowen are in for a few rough rides against these teams. Good luck to them. I'm looking forward to the next home game and feel that Tommy has got the makings of another good footballing side. Les

Yeltz Rob and all the Halesowen fans Hope that you enjoyed your little trip "upt North" Think in the end a draw was a fair result chances at both ends as Rob says we were better at passing the ball, this is usually our style, think we created marginally more (we were at home) but Halesowen looked dangerous on the break
We are not "Thugs" as one of the away supporters mentioned on the way out, if you think that wait till you meet some of the other teams
Rob you mentioned the goal you scored, a yard over the line, I have it on video but it doesnt show anything that says it was or it wasnt. There was also a few incidents with Christie going in at the keeper that was a bit late !!! the centre half going in on Simmo with studs showing, also Connor doing likewise
I agree with lespne, Connor should have stopped after it was offside but what the keeper did was totally unjust and warranted a straight red
But hey !!!!! isnt it great footy is back and there was more than a few things to talk about
see you at your place yeltz fans, and I will have that beer with you
