Here is a list of Travel Directions to our opponents this coming season
Im sure Neil will update them
Ashton United
Hurst’s Cross
Surrey Street
Ashton under Lyne
Lancashire
OL6 8DY
The cross is a big stone one right outside the ground
The best route is very much the same as Mossley and Curzon Ashton
Exit M60 at Junction 23.
Follow signs for A635 Ashton-under-Lyme. Turning left at the top of the slip road
Take the 3rd Exit off the next big roundabout, then the 3rd exit off the next one (Asda).
You should be going down a road that bye passes the town centre which you can see on your left.
Follow the Mossley signs
You will be on A670
You will reach the Queens Pub on the right at a set of traffic lights.
Turn left into Queens Road (B6194)
Follow Queens Road for just over 0.5 miles
On reaching junction with Kings Road
Turn left you will then see then ground on your right.
Park in the side streets surrounding the ground
The turnstile is usually situated to the left of the main stand as you look at the ground from outside.
Facilities: There is an excellent social club on the front of the ground, it is owned by the football club and operates as a pub during the week. There are also a number of pubs in easy walking distance of the ground. The ground itself has a covered stand; however, watch where you sit because there are a few obstructed view seats, there is also covered standing opposite the main stand.
FOOD; the tea bar is alongside the stand, it is not very modern, but is very good and the staff are usually very pleasant too. If you ask nicely, you may get a treat because the tea bar sometimes carries “Jacksons Steak Puddings”, arguably some of the best money can buy. If they have them, buy one, with chips, peas and gravy. There are also a couple of chip shops on the main road by the ground.
Distance 46 miles Time 1 hour
Barwell
Kirkby Road Sports Ground
Kirkby Road
Barwell
LE9 8FQ
Barwell is a village to the north of Hinckley in Leicestershire. It has a population of around 8,750, Barwell’s local industry was based on the shoe, hosiery and knitware business. Former Liverpool and Wigan goalkeeper Chris Kirkland grew up locally. The second oldest building in the village is the Queens Head pub.
Set off down the M6 toward Birmingham. You have a choice of two routes, The Toll Road route or the M6- M69 route, one cost money the other doesn’t. The advice is after you pass Stoke you will note signs saying how long it will take and the mileage to Junction 8 which is the M5 turnoff. If the time and the mileage are roughly equal (for example 20 miles and 20 minutes) it means the M6 isn’t very busy around Birmingham so you could use the M6 and save your toll money, if the time is a lot more than the mileage, you are advised to take the toll road, because there is likely to be a hold up on the M6.The toll route is nearer, too.
For the toll leave the M6 at Junction 11a.
Follow the toll motorway to Junction 4 signposted A5.
Carry on down the A5 past Tamworth and past Atherstone.
Eventually you will reach a roundabout where you will turn left onto the A47.
Around 4 miles after leaving the M5 will have gone through 3 roundabouts, at the 4th roundabout turn left onto The Common (it should be signposted Barwell). This road further on becomes Chapel Street.
After 0.7 miles bear right onto Stapleton Lane
After 30 yards turn right onto Kirkby Road
The ground should be 300 yards on the left.
Barwell isn’t very big so if you take a wrong turning in the village don’t worry too much.
M6 / M69 Route
Stay on the M6 until Junction 2, signposted M69.
Follow to the M69 to Junction 1.
Turn onto the A5 in a North-West direction go through 2 roundabouts and stay on it until you reach roundabout junction with A47. Turn Right and follow route as for toll road.
There appears to be limited parking at the ground, though does appear to be a decent stand.
I cannot find a chip shop on Trip Advisor but have found a website for one elsewhere chrissfishandchips.com/ This is 104-106 High Street, Barwell. LE9 8DR
Distance 113miles Time 2 hours
Blyth Spartans
Croft Park,
Plessey Road, Blyth,
Northumberland NE24 3JE
Leave Skelmersdale and head North up the M6 until you reach Carlisle.
Leave the M6 at Junction 43, signed A69 Carlisle/ Hexham/ Newcastle
At the roundabout at the top of the slip road, take the 3rd Exit onto the A69 toward Hexham/ Newcastle.
Carry on along the A69 for approx. 45 miles.
You are advised that there are many Radar Camera’s along the A69, some checking average speed (it is a very tempting road on which to put your foot down).
Eventually you will come to the A1. Head North
After around 6 miles take the A19 ramp signed A189 Cramlington/ Blyth/ Ashington.
After 0.5 miles at the roundabout take the 3rd Exit onto A19
After 2.2 miles at another roundabout take the 2nd Exit onto A189
After 2.2 miles take the exit toward A192 Seaton Delaval/ Cramlington
After 200 yards merge onto the A1061
After 100 yards at the roundabout take the 3rd Exit and stay on A1061
Go through 2 roundabouts
After 3 miles at roundabout take the 1st Exit onto Rotary Way / A193
Go through 1 roundabout and after 1 mile at another roundabout take 3rd Exit onto Plessey Road / B1327
You be able to see the ground.
Team coach take 3rd left (William Street) and reverse into Bishopton Street to ground entrance
The ground is visible from a distance as it is next to a large public park.
Parking is usually in the streets surrounding the ground
The ground has a large Stand that commends excellent views of the game. It also has a substantial club on the ground that usually has big screens for football matches. The catering facilities in the ground are also very good.
DO NOT MISS. Gino’s Fish & Chip Shop on Plessey Road (by the ground, opposite the bus shelter). It is a personal favourite and is highly recommended. Order your fish when you go in. 10 out of 10, it is arguably one of the highlights of the trip.

Leave Skelmersdale and head south down the M6. Cross the Thelwall Viaduct and carry on south
Leave the M6 at Junction 19 and turn 270 degrees toward Northwich.
After around 0.75 miles at the traffic lights turn left toward Macclesfield/Knutsford.
You will then cross the M6 and pass the back entrance to Knutsford Services on your right.
Go into Knutsford and follow the signs A537/ Macclesfield.
You will pass through the villages of Chelford and Monk’s Heath and eventually you will enter Macclesfield.
Follow the signs A537/Buxton through Macclesfield (this will take around 15 minutes on a Saturday, so be patient).
You will leave Macclesfield up a hill and will go onto the Cat & Fiddle Pass. Beware there are at least 2 sets of radar cameras on this road.
After around 9 miles (on the outskirts of Buxton), bear left onto the A54.
After around 1.5 miles you will reach a T-Junction. Turn Left onto the A53.
You will pass the Pavilion Gardens on your right and will then reach a roundabout
Turn right at the roundabout and head up the hill keeping the big Church on your right, ignoring the town centre shops on your left.
At the top of the hill you will be an area known as The Market Square
You will see Jo Royle Camping on your left. Turn Left alongside the shop, then behind the shop turn immediately left.
Follow the road for approximately 500 yards to the ground which is opposite the Police Station.
Parking is on the road, but you can park right outside if you are early enough.
The ground is covered on three sides and has a substantial stand. There is also a decent social club on the ground. The tea bar is pretty good, too.
According to Trip Advisor Bill’s Fish & Chips at SK17 7BL is quite good (doesn’t get top marks, but no really bad ones); I have not been there myself though. Fairfield Plaice, 159 Victoria Park Road, Buxton SK17 7PE gets a very good rating but is further from the ground (if I get there in time I will go and test this one out).

Leave Skelmersdale and get yourself onto the M60 then M62 and continue east past Leeds and Wakefield until you reach Junction 32A. You will note that the road works that have blighted the M62 for what seems like years have finished.
At Junction 32A, take the A1M South.
Carry on down the A1M, past Doncaster, Newark and Grantham North Services.
You are looking for a sign for Earlsfield Industrial Estate.
Around 4 miles after Grantham North Services you will branch off left and reach a roundabout. Apparently this should be signed A607 Melton Mowbray.
Take the 1st exit onto Swingbridge Road follow road until you reach a T-Junction after 0.5 miles.
Turn left into Trent Road and the ground is on the right.
The ground is an athletics stadium with what appears to be 2 entrances, one for officials and coaches the other for the public. However there does appear to be a car park.
The ground is on an estate a fair distance out of town, so no eating advice is offered for this game.

Ilkeston
New Manor Ground
Awsworth Road
Ilkeston
Derbyshire
DE7 8JF
Ilkeston is between Derby and Nottingham, situated just west of the M1.
Leave Skelmersdale and head south down the M6, cross Thelwall and continue south toward Stoke. Ignore Junction 16 (Many directions tell you to turn off here, it is a little bit nearer but is more complicated) and leave the M6 at Junction 15.
Head for around 2 miles easterly along the A500, following the signs A50 Uttoxeter / Derby
You will leave the A500 via a slip road and reach a roundabout, turn right.
You will pass Stoke City’s Britannia Stadium on your right.
Be very aware on the A50 there are a lot of radar cameras, so speeding IS NOT RECOMMENDED tempting as it is
You will stay on the A50 for around 41 miles.
You will then find the next bit a little disorientating because you travel south with the M1alongside you.
Go onto the M1 North
Leave the M1 at Junction 27 and go back onto the M1 Southbound and leave at Junction 26
Go west along A610 sign posted Ripley
After 2.5 miles branch left at roundabout onto A6095 signed llkeston
After 1.5 miles and going through a roundabout turn right onto Newton’s Lane signed Cotmanhay
This becomes Awsworth Road
You should come to the ground after between 0.5 to 1.0 miles
There is a car park at the ground but its limitations are unclear. The ground has a decent if rather eccentrically designed stand (judge for yourselves) and standing cover. There is also a fair sized social club on the ground.
Trip Advisor doesn’t give much information on Fish & Chip shops in Ilkeston but mentions a Briggs Fish Bar of 7 Nottingham Road DE7 5RF. However, I don’t want to risk my reputation by saying it is good or bad because I know precisely nothing about it.
Google Earth pictures do reveal a pub called the Bridge within easy walking distance of the ground, accessed by crossing the nearby canal bridge and another The Little Acorn further along this road.
Distance 111 miles Time 1hr 52 mins
Matlock Town
Causeway Lane
Matlock
Derbyshire
DE4 3AR
You can go to Matlock one of two ways. Follow the route to Buxton and carry on through Bakewell to Matlock. Or via the M1 and going through Alfreton, the latter is a lot further than the former route, but is motorway for a lot of the way. We are recommending the Buxton route.
Go into Buxton and follow the signs A6 Bakewell.
Follow the A6 through Bakewell and carry on into Matlock.
After about 14 miles, you will see the River Derwent on your right.
You will reach a roundabout where you will see the A6 veer off right and go over the river toward Matlock Bath. At this point carry straight on, onto the A615 toward Alfreton.
The river will still be on your right. Go through the mini-roundabout by the Co-Op and after about 0.5 miles you will see the ground on your left. The ground is immediately next door to Matlock Ford
Parking is difficult. Unless you are very early and are lucky enough to get a space near the ground, you are advised to go past the football ground and the cricket ground next to it and find a space in one of the side streets. This unfortunately may require a walk of about 400 yards back to the ground entrance.
Ground: There is seating on two sides of the ground however, the new main stand on the far side is very modern.
Food: This week chip shops are not on the agenda. Instead go back to the large roundabout (Costa Coffee on the corner) and turn right into Bank Street. About 50 to 100 yards down on your right is Hambridges Butchers (next to Ladbrokes), the hot beef or pork baguettes are highly recommended.
Distance 72 miles Time 1hr 51 mins

After passing the Tesco Express on your right, turn left at the traffic lights (by Merchant Taylors' School) in to College Road. The ground is half a mile on your left.
Distance 15 miles Time 23 minutes
MICKLEOVER
Don Amott Leisure Group Arena, Station Road,, Mickleover,
Derbyshire, Derby DE3 9FB, UK
Essentially the route is down the M6 to Stoke South, Junction 15. Then follow the A50 to the outskirts of Derby from where directions start. Beware of the radar camera’s in the Stoke on Trent area especially in the area around Stoke City FC ground, DO NOT SPEED TEMPTING AS IT MIGHT BE.
28 miles after leaving M6: Leave A50 at Junction 5 signed A516 Derby. At roundabout take 2nd Exit onto A516, 1.75 miles: Roundabout 2nd Exit onto A516, 1.9 miles: Branch Left, then at Roundabout 3rd Exit onto Etwall Road, 0.4 miles: Bear Left onto Uttoxeter Road, 0.2 miles: Roundabout 1st Exit onto Station Road B5020 signed Kirk Langley, About 1 mile: Arrive at destination
This is about the most accurate instructions that can be offered. The club website just refers you to a map and the 2012 Non-League Directory is very vague saying from the A38: At Markeaton Island right onto A52 Ashbourne, then 2nd left onto Radbourne Lane, then 3rd Left into Station Road 50 yards.
There does appear to be car parking. The ground itself looks very similar in lay-out to Barwell. With a newly built stand built on the halfway line and a small cover next to it.
The quality of the catering on the ground is unknown.
Distance 88 miles Time 1 hr 33 mins

After 0.2 miles turn right into Wall Lane
After 0.2 miles turn right onto Water-Lode
(Go over the bridge that crosses the River Weaver)
You will see the ground set back on your right
There is a large modern car park at the ground.
According to AA Route Planner it is 47.5 miles and should take 1 hour and 2 minutes.
TIP; on older Google Maps the ground is not shown.
Distance 53 miles Time 1 hour 2 mins
Rushall Olympic
Dales Lane
Rushall
Walsall
WS4 1LJ
Rushall is a former mining village about 3 to 4 miles north of Walsall. You reach by travelling along the Walsall Ring Road and turn off left and continuing for 3-4 miles. Walsall are away on the day, so the roads shouldn’t be as busy
The route for the majority of the way is very simple, head down the M6 until you pass Hilton Park Services.
Leave the M6 at Junction 10, then at the Roundabout take the 1st Exit on the A454.
After around 1.5 miles, at some traffic signals (presume lights) carry straight on onto the A4148
After about 0.8 miles at a set of traffic lights turn left onto the A461 (I believe this is called Litchfield Street)
*****Apparently there are radar cameras long this road*****
After around 1.2 miles at traffic lights turn right into Daw End Lane, this should numbered B4154 and signposted for Aldridge
After around 0.5 – 0.75 miles go over the canal bridge.
The ground entrance is down a track on your right immediately opposite the Royal Oak pub, last season the pub was closed down, so may not be there now.
There is parking at the ground but In seem to remember that they wanted to charge you to park on the car park last season.
Food; Both Trip Advisor and Yell.com do not list a Fish & Chip shop in Rushall. I seem to remember though that you pass one on the way to the ground before you turn into Daw End Lane. For those that are urgent for Fish & Chips there is one on the A454, not long after you turn off the motorway on your left. Chip Masters 166 Wolverhampton Road WS2 8RQ. . I don’t however, know how good or bad it is and you still have about 4 miles to drive to the ground.
There are bar and refreshment facilities on the ground.

Distance 145 miles Time 2hrs 40 mins
Workington
Borough Park, Workington, Cumbria, CA14 2DT
AA Route Planner has this trip as 128 miles taking 2 hour and 10 minutes. In my opinion, you either have to break speed limits or have your own personal Tardis to do this time for an evening match.
The first leg of the trip from Skelmersdale to Junction 40 of the M6 according to AA Route Planner is quoted as 93 miles taking 1 hour and 30 minutes.
Get onto the M6 and head north, if you want a stop Tebay Services is recommended (the last before you leave the M6), it has won all kind of awards as the best on the motorway network and I agree that it arguably is the best.
The second leg is around 37 miles and should take you around 55 minutes.
On leaving the M6, get onto the A66 westbound until you reach a set of traffic lights at a T-Junction in the middle of Workington. You will go through a large number of roundabouts and some of the route is on dual carriageways, some is not and may see you frustratingly, stuck behind slower moving vehicles and almost all the route is unlit.
If you need to stop between the motorway and Workington, Keswick will have public toilets and fish & chip shops and Cockermouth will have similar facilities.
When you reach the T-Junction at the traffic lights in Workington, turn Right on to the A596 Bridge Street (this becomes Hall Brow further along).
Follow Bridge Street/Hall Brow for 0.9 miles, including going under a bridge. You will see the football ground on the left, on the other side of the river.
At the roundabout continue around it for 270 degrees and head over the bridge you have travelled under.
You will be alongside the football ground and you can access it via the next roundabout. Tesco is immediately opposite the ground.
There is car parking at the ground.
There is a small seated area on the side you go into the ground and more opposite, but much of the far side will be occupied by the home supporters, who can be quite vociferous.
There is some very decent catering in the club alongside the smaller main stand side. There is a café in Tesco.
If are in the area with lots of spare time, you might try a Fish & Chip shop about 5 miles from the ground; Cross Quays Fish & Chips, 15 King Street Maryport CA15 6AJ. The shop gets some tremendous references on Trip Advisor and sound like it is well worth checking out at tea time.

Barwell

LE9 8DR

Leave the M6 at Junction 19 and turn 270 degrees toward Northwich.

You can go to Matlock one of two ways. Follow the route to Buxton and carry on through Bakewell to Matlock. Or via the M1 and going through Alfreton, the latter is a lot further than the former route, but is motorway for a lot of the way. We are recommending the Buxton route.

There does appear to be car parking. The ground itself looks very similar in lay-out to Barwell. With a newly built stand built on the halfway line and a small cover next to it.

Chip Masters 166 Wolverhampton Road WS2 8RQ. .
