Welcome to the Monthly Newsletter of Skelmersdale United
We hope that you have had a Merry Christmas and are looking forward to your New Years Celebrations, we hope that 2016 brings much joy and happiness.
Something the club has been short of recently, as you may have seen on the club website, the pitch was flooded on Boxing Day during the recent floods, so to was many parts of the Town, here's hoping that anyone effected has got back to something like normality.
It will take some time for the club to achieve this, the pitch as I mentioned was flooded and received irreparable damage, it should see us through the season but will need major work carried out during the summer and the back fence also took the brunt of some high winds earlier in December and that to will have to be replaced.
So all not looking to good at the moment.
There was a band of dedicated volunteers working hard for two days to try and get the Bank Holiday Monday game against Marine playable but we fell just short, this was our bumper gate of the season, one that the club relies on, even though it will be replayed later in the season we dont expect to get the same revenue through the turnstiles.
We face AFC Fylde on Tuesday 5th January in the FA Trophy 2nd Round, of course weather permitting, but we do need the support of the Skelmersdale supporters and the people of Skem to come out in force, one to give vocal encouragement and two, to help boost the funds.
The winners of this tie will be away to Eastbourne Borough, on the 16th January, a very winnable tie and who knows, with a lot of luck, we could be going back to Wembley again !!!
So do your best, tell your friends, share on facebook, do whatever it takes but please support the club, its your Town, be proud.
You can keep up to date with the AFC Fylde game and all other things United related at the Website at

During December the club had a thrilling win over Chorley 5-2 in the Trophy, followed up by the trip to AFC Fylde, were we came from 3 goals down to lead 4-3 going into the final minutes only to concede at the death, a game many of the fans who were there will never forget.
We also have reached the Semi Final of the Liverpool Senior Cup, a Trophy we won last season, but there were defeats in the league to Ashton Utd and Nantwich, although both performances warranted at least something from the game. Sadly as of most of the season, things have not run kindly for us.
The Youth team fixtures for the past month as you can imagine have been devastated by the weather, so we have nothing to report from them at the moment.
Just to go back to the ground, Ramsbottom United who suffered terribly with the floods have had people coming from as far a field as the North East and Birmingham to help and have also had donations from other clubs, we Im afraid have not been offered such luxuries so with that in mind we have brought about the return of "The WALL", The supporters and local businesses got together last season and helped the club tremendously and we need your help again, this time, with the fence needing repair it will be "The FENCE"
You can see details of the scheme at
www.pitchero.com/clubs/skelmersdaleunited/a/dont-take-a-fence-46094.html
Finally here's wishing you all a Very Happy and prosperous New Year
All the very best from all at Skelmersdale United
Cheers
