Skelmersdale United Monthly News
February
PLEASE DONT TAKE A FENCE
Welcome to this months Monthly news, which is not good Im afraid, as many of you will have visited the ground over the past month or so, that's if there has been a game on, bloody weather. You will have noticed that the "Fence" at the far end has took a battering. not only that, but with so many games called off because of that pesky rain, we have had very little income.
We still have to pay the players, still have to pay for the coaches to away games, while the finances take a battering as much as the poor old "Fence"
Tony Brown and Bill Molyneux and a bunch of dedicated helpers have worked tirelessly over the weeks to try to get the pitch playable, on a number of occasions it has been in playable condition only for the heavens to open again and thwart their efforts.
It is an ongoing problem we have, that will cost in the region of £15,000 to rectify come the seasons end........obviously we havent got that kind of money, So we are asking again for donations that can help the club
Its "Dont take A Fence" which can be found on the club website at
www.pitchero.com/clubs/skelmersdaleunited/news/the-wall-is-back-1543202.html
And it really IS, dont take offence, You the club supporters responded brilliantly last year when things went a bit pear shape and its like a broken record when again we ask for donations but that is the position we are in.
We would like to thank all those that have so far donated but we still need more, it doesnt matter how much you can put in, You get your name on the "Fence" on the website and in the programme and you help the club.
What more can one ask for.
For any donations see me, Kev Panther or any committee member, and again thanks, your generosity is most welcome.
FOOTBALL
Now thats over back to the football front, with so many games called off, its a wonder the players know who each other are. We have had a good result at Colwyn Bay With Chris Almond netting a hat trick and a thrilling encounter with Ramsbottom that ended 1-1, the first home game for six weeks but away from home there has been 4 defeats, although it must be said, the side have been plagued by the worst injury crisis know to man.
We must hope for better this coming month when we face.

WEMBLEY ALL OVER AGAIN
Looking forward to next season and it will be the start of the 50th Anniversary of the first Wembley Appearance and to mark the occasion Enfield Town of the Isthmian Premier League will make the Journey North on Saturday 30th July. It is hoped that players from both sides of the Wembley final will be in attendance and meet each other for the first time in 50 years.
There will be more about this in the coming months but a heads up for a commemorative programme to mark the occasions, and we are offering you, your family or your company a chance to have your name in there.
There will be Just eight squares to a page (Just like in the old days) and for just £20 you can have your name, in what will be a much sought after programme.
THE YOUTH TEAM
Well pretty much as the first team, they Reserves have been unable to play at Home, the only game they have played in the Lancashire League was a 7-2 defeat at Squires Gate
Whilst the Youth team in the NW Youth Alliance went down 3-2 against Salford. they face Chester Youth at the JMO today and travel to AFC Fylde next Sunday.
Whilst the Reserves have a game on Wednesday 3rd February against Squires Gate at the JMO and are away to Workington on the 17th
Good luck to all teams, the First, the Reserves and all the Youth teams for the coming month and good luck to the lads on the ground, and lets hope for a better and dryer month of February
EASYFUNDRAISING
I know we have mentioned this before but it is quite simple to raise funds for the club without doing anything that you wouldnt normally do
Thats shop online, I know its not everyones cup of tea but if you can register with Easyfundraising at new.easyfundraising.org.uk
select your cause, which is Skelmersdale United FC, and when you go shopping on line then the first port of call is the site, Type in the search bar the shop where you would like to spend your money and hey presto, when shopping, whatever you purchase a small donation goes to the club.
