The following article appeared in last weeks programme.
WHAT A SEASON, WHAT A YEAR
Talking to Paul Griffiths
Football like life is a funny old thing, a great footballing man once said that, and never a truer word was spoken and I like many others wish that man well.
As always we had great hopes at the start, and we did very well, then life, fate, bad luck whatever you want to call it took over, we had injuries, players moving on, all the usual and our results were not great, but, we battled on and I will say we the board and the team management were getting some stick from some areas of the supporters especially those that used the various forms of social media, I will state here and now that I abhor that type of criticism because it mainly comes from title tattle and Chinese whispers propagated by faceless, nameless, people.
I have always said that I am there for any supporter to come and speak to me, I do not hide and I will always give you my honest answer and opinion, what all of a sudden is wrong with people talking to each other face to face rather than causing unnecessary mayhem on a cowards website, usually with the wrong information.
If you have a problem with what I am saying I AM NOT HIDING COME AND SPEAK TO ME FACE TO FACE.
I as your chairman I do not often take space in the program as there are more important matters for that limited space, so I think that on the odd occasion that I do I deserve a rant, so rant over.
My opinion is that we have experienced a very difficult season, a season that every club goes through at some time or other this season was our time, however, I feel we have shown a great tenacity, the management and all our sponsors have worked hard to turn things around, and turn them around they have, but I must say I think the greater part in all this must go to the players, we have had a fair turnaround of players this season not to mention those young lads who have stepped up to the plate from the reserve /youth team they have all worked their socks off and despite some harsh criticism, all have held there resolve and soldiered on for the club and their own pride(take note those nameless people on social media I will defend my lads to the very end because that is what they do for our club) I thank each and every one of them and that includes those now not with us.
On a brighter note we as the board are now working hard to secure the tenure of the ground lease and hope if we succeed we will be able to move the club forward and make developments that both the team and club deserve, make no mistake and you can dispel any rumours you hear to the contrary we want and will strive to move our club forward, we will accept any help physical or financial that is offered, I ask you all please try to promote your club in any way you can to assist especially in the financial area no matter how small, it is a sad fact that finance counts more these days than passion, if it were only based on passion we would be soaring.
I look forward to seeing you all and hopefully more at the start of next season when our challenge starts again.
