After 5 years of watching the nearly men play some brilliant football, have some bad luck and not quite get promoted, I can't help but think they are now going backwards.
Tommy needs to make some tough choices starting with taking the armband off Mike Burke, thanking him for his efforts and letting the lad go, he simply cannot play at this level. He tries but his poor decision making and lack of pace have cost us points again this season, we all have our limits.
The team needs a leader who will read the game, encourage players and give instructions.
We are also lacking some fight in midfield, every team needs someone to stop other teams and Lee Parle should be playing every week.
Today's performance was awful, Trafford won the game with average players because they had desire and wanted to work hard for each other.
Ken Strickland is a brilliant right back, he has played well in the middle because he has great technique, but put him back where he belongs so he can support a winger and overlap.
Skem have the right players available, especially when mr Tuck returns next week. The best Skem teams I have seen have played on the break with wide players stretching teams and turning them round, so surlely Almond and Walcott should be doing just that.
Here's hoping they turn it round soon.

redevelop .. starting at the very back..............

I think some of the players that are out on loan at other clubs should given a chance to prove them selves as well because they can't be any worse than what we've got at the moment!!!
Maybe even look at bringing back some of the old players ie whitey,keyo & It's killing me saying it but come back Armstrong all's forgiven,,,I know It's not posible to get all of them back but I would be trying!!!

Skem have only picked up 8 points since 1st november
Scoring 17 and conceding 28
Only won 2
Not won a home game since 29th october beating ossett town 4-0
We've been poor
It will be a acheivment if we get in the playoffs
COME ON SKEM we need a run like last season

Some of the points above may be valid,some are just nonesensical!!
Skelmersdale United fc don't & will never like any other football team win every game they play in FACT.
Take a long hard look at Skems results over the last 5-6 seasons & they are 2nd to NONE.
So yes you are all entitled to your gripes when after numerous seasons of brilliant results & very near misses!
The powers that be i.e. the management team have introduced some new signings over the last few weeks & it will take time for them to bed in & gel.
Getting on the lads backs won't HELP THE TEAM, so if you are a REAL SUPPORTER of the lads don't start bringing them down & slagging individuals off!!
Performances aren't quite there but they have not been bad & every single football team on the planet goes through a transitional period & this maybe ours.
You do not & nevrr will turn into a bad side over night, so once again either SUPPORT THE TEAM or take a step back give it some deep thought & think before criticising.
KEEP SUPPORTING KEEP UNITED
Get behind them & SUPPORT THEM.

If our results were "2nd to NONE" we'd be promoted every season so obviously they're not.
We have been treated to some great football over the last few years, including promotion from the NWCL but this season has been disappointing to say the least. Going out of every cup at the first hurdle was not, as most people seem to think, a good thing. At least the extra midweek fixtures meant that Tommy could try new formations, try out new players or give fringe players a run out. Without mentioning any names some of the current 1st team regulars are just not good enough.
One name I will mention is Mark Houghton, a much better player than some that play every week but still is left on the bench?
We lost a few good players last season, Wade, Akrigg, Ledsham, Turner, Armstrong, O'Donnel etc and they haven't really been replaced. Poor defence, No bite in midfield and, at the moment, a pretty inept forward line.
We haven't turned into a bad team overnight, it's taken a few weeks.........but it's getting worse.

2nd isn't winning anything
Unfortunately we done seem to be able to handle things when we are up against it "short of options" is the way I am thinking
Forced change havn't helped suspensions being the biggest obstacle born out of frustration
Sandbanger suggests change goalie, from what I have seen Sam isn't to blame. And from Tom's view would he want to come back into this state of affairs I say "the one's that got us here get us there" It wont go on for ever (I hope)

Let me tell you this peeps, i spoke to Mike burke before last weeks defeat to the brig & the guy was genuinely GUTTED the way results have been going.
Do as the lad asks & meet him for a chat. He's a nice lad & always finds time to speak to Supporters.
Read tucker09's posting on another page & you might see what the lads are trying to do!!

Berkey not having ago at you personally,your part of the old system like Almond,Houghton,etc ect,,,my opinion is get the old players back & get the old system back!!!
no disrespect to some of the new lads that have come in but i feel we've let better leave,i can understand players leaving to better them selves but to leave just for the next level up or leave for another club in our division, i don't get,,,,we should of tried harder to keep them here!!!
like i said about Kyle Armstrong,he probably left because of the c*ap i gave him & i don't blame him ether but it's only till they've gone you realise a few things,,,i would welcome back Kyle anytime now!!!
we've lost our shape & understanding on the pitch & the only way we can get it back in my opinion is bring back the lads that understand the S.U.F.C way!!!
so has the tread title says "going backwards",,,maybe that's what's need to go forwards!!!

No problem Mr H. The players have had to put up with a lot of disruption recently, suspensions injuries,new players amongst other things. Certain people need to make an effort to speak to the lads!! Maybe,just maybe they might then understand  |

Cant wait to get back this saturday!! id love to go straight back in2 the side but thats for tommy to decide. ive missed playing so much an having to watch us getting beat by teams not half as good as us as done my head right in!!!! Saturday am going to make sure that if am not taking off for sustitution then i will be carried off on a stretcher suffering with exhaustion cos am sick an tired of sitting in a miserable dressing room!! winning breeds confidence, saturday cant come quick enough for me.......... LETS AV IT.........

Well if there is one thing that has come from this post and the others re "Duffy back" and "old players bk" It is that there is certainly commitment from all sides, players, supporters and management.
Although I agree, Duffy and Whitey the two names mentioned were great ambassadors for United, Two players LIKE !!! those would benefit the squad,
In previous posts I have made the comment "like of Turner or Birchall" We can even go back further
Love a player LIKE Wally Bennett, Billy Loughlin, Alan Mansley, Steve Heighway we could go on.
But unfortunately time moves on. The players we have got us Top of the league and no doubt are capable of returning us there.
Maybe its time to come 5th, scrape the Play-offs and be undeserved winners, it has happened to us.
