Marvin's day's are over ! caught him this week, he should have been called "Fat Larry" he was a big one !! but now I have another intruder down the stand side, which I have tried twice this week to catch, so I will have to call him "Jimmy Two Times" his luck will run out !!
The pitch is looking good (for this time of the year) just left it to the elements to sort it out, heavy rain and strong winds expected over the next few day's, so will keep you all informed on the conditions.
When I called in on Monday, I was met with the sight of a rubbish bin that had been emptied onto the pitch, in the Club House end goalmouth, along with hundreds of white limestone chipping, thrown all over the penalty area, with more down at the far end goalmouth !! what is going on ? who are the idiots doing this ? the chippings can cause a lot of expensive damage to the mower blades, which means more financial cost's to the club !! I despair sometimes with the mentality of some people, I do not need this, I have enough to do already, on my own.

Ground visit today, surface very soft in places, advise players to wear "Studs" not "Blades" heavy rain this afternoon and overnight, followed on Saturday morning with a clear sunny /windy period, up to kick off !! I will inspect the pitch at 8.30am, to see how much rain is "standing water" the recent Verti Drain may be our saviour !!

Hang on to that rig Stu, and don't get blown away !! see you midweek !!
Just returned from the ground, and the surface is fine !! it will be heavy in places, which means it will cut up a lot !! but that is my problem, so we have a "Game On" thank goodness it was Verti Drained, it has worked !! see you all later.

Just returned from the ground (3pm) after trying (in vain) to fork away the standing water from the playing surface, as I pierced the ground, the water came right back up !! it is no surprise after all the rain/snow that we have had recently, there is a lot of water just lying below, which has been "topped up" which is causing this problem, I hope that we have some fine weather next week, which will help towards the preparation for our next home fixture on Saturday Feb 7th v. Stamford.
Once again I am asking for assistance with the "playing surface preparation each week" I am struggling at this moment because I do not have anyone to whom I can "train up" to be able to work on their own should I become unavailable, there will come a time when I will have to relinquish this position, then who will take over ?
If there is anyone out there who would like to help, please let me know, call in at the ground and we can discuss this situation, or leave a private message, in my box on this thread.

Are the covers going on tonight? In front of the stand.

If you remember last season Graham, when we put the covers down for a whole week, when we removed them the ground was still frozen solid !! so unfortunately they are not effective, so it would not help tonight, sorry.
When I left the Stadium today at 3.30pm 98% of the pitch was playable, in fact it was in excellent condition ( soft, and would take a stud ) the good sunshine that we had all day, soon sorted it out !! but we have the usual strip of playing area just in front of the dugouts, which has taken the brunt of the frosts this week, but we have in the past played in far worse conditions, so it will be down to the referee tomorrow morning at 9am, let's hope she makes the right decision, both clubs want to play the match, just hope that the weather will be in our favour.

Well, the weather was in our favour ! with no hard frost to contend with overnight, we managed to complete the work (starting at 7.30am) before Helen the referee arrived at 8.30, yes it is firm in front of the dugouts, but should be better by 3.00pm k.o. time.
I would like to thank Steve, Tom, and Les for their help this morning, It would have been difficult on my own, so pleased to see supporters like that, turn up when the "chips are down" and all I could give them when we finished, was a cup of steaming hot tea, well done lads, see you all later.

All the preparation work on the pitch completed today, for our home League fixture V. Matlock on Saturday k.o 3.00pm. let's hope that we have a good result, rather than the doom and gloom after last Saturday's result, three points please boy's, that's all we require to put a smile back on our face's !!
The Youth Team are also at home on Sunday k.o 2.00pm. v. Rylands, rain is forecast on Friday, but it should be ok for both games, good weather over the weekend.
