Well !! after nine weeks of non stop pitch renovation, I have just finished mowing at 8.30pm tonight, so now I have moved my mower over to this new Forum, to keep you all informed of the progress being made on a weekly basis, (if that is ok ?) The playing surface is looking very good, after the recent rain, and good growing weather, the nitrogen and iron fertiliser has made a big difference. Erected the goalposts today, will commence marking out the pitch tomorrow, should take two days, before the rain arrives at the weekend !! There are still many jobs to complete, so if you have any spare time, your help would be appreciated. Groundsman, Peter.

A very good constructive day, after dismantling the remaining seats required for our new dugouts, from Burscough FC, I returned to the ground at 1.00pm, to meet Arthur, and we washed down the stand walls, in preparation for our illustrious manager Tommy Lawson, who has volunteered for this paint job !! Many thanks Tommy !!
It turned out to be a very warm, pleasant, afternoon, and my thanks must also go to Billy, and Marty, for the work on number 3 and 4 turnstiles, good job, well done.
Just as I was leaving at 6 pm, the earth moved beneath my feet !! (that has not happened for some time ) and there he was !! "THE MOLE" !! so I set my trap, he had ventured onto the pitch area, so unfortunately he has to go !!

There is now a "MOLE INVASION" !! they are coming at me from all directions !! another trap laid today, this is now getting serious !! the one that I just missed today, popped his head out of the hole wearing a blue and white bobble hat, laughed at me and shot off !!
Washed down the stands, whilst the rain was pouring down, at least it did assist in the work we were doing, cannot complain !! just concerned about when we can cut again, and finish off marking out the pitch, which has had an unbelievable growth rate over the past few days !! and is looking superb !! Countdown to kick off: 12 days to go !!

Spectator fencing commenced this week, one side almost completed, gates to be added, whole stadium should be finished by kick off !! Viewed the pitch from the top of the Television gantry, what a sight !! the surface looked fantastic !! even colour all over, the nitrogen and iron has certainly worked !!
Having a day off today, to watch the lads at Blackpool, will be at the ground on Sunday with Paul and Billy to finish off the Dugouts,( so as I keep asking) your help would be appreciated if you could spare some time to assist in the remaining jobs that need to be finished off !! Only seven days to kick off, Sunday July 31st at 2pm !!

Work went well today (Sunday) thanks to Paul and Billy, going well, until we hit a few minor blips!! will sort the problem out during the week !! Final week coming up, to complete all the work, should be ready for next Sunday, 1,000 gate expected (according to the Liverpool Management) they played their first game today at Arsenal, and are looking forward to commence playing again at our Stadium. Please try to spare some time this week, if you can, plenty of small jobs to be done.

After two labour intensive days on Friday and Saturday, we finished the preparation at nine pm on Saturday night, ready for todays Liverpool Ladies V Bristol Ladies, unfortunatley the Reds lost 2-0, and remain at the bottom of the Premier League. The pitch is in excellent condition, and will prepare over the next two days, for our pre season friendly V.Southport on Tuesday night, kick off 7.45pm.

The torrential downpour yesterday afternoon, worked wonders for the playing surface last night !! just what I required !! it stood up very well !!
Thought the lads played some very good football, and performed with a lot of style, they were the better team on the night, if there is a better goal this coming season,( scored by Kenny Strickland, what a finish !!) I look forward to seeing it !!
Prep today for tonight's Liverpool Ladies v. Doncaster Belles kick off 7.45pm, then for our final home pre season friendly on Saturday v. Droylsden kick off 3.00pm

Three very good working day's on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday many thanks to all the help from the usual crew, still plenty of jobs to complete, but we are nearly there !!
Lowered the cutting height on Tuesday, due to all the rain expected, because I doubt we will be able to cut again this week !! I just hope on Saturday that after all the hard work during the close season, that the pitch is not cut up, because it will be soft, if all this rain falls !!
Tommy had a very good session on the pitch last night, all the players were pleased with the height of the cut, the ball did not drag as much as last Saturday, believe me, they all looked very sharp and fit, for the big kick off !! here we go again !!

At last, the new Season starts tomorrow with our home fixture v. Harrogate Railway ko 3pm.
Made a decision at lunch time today to give the pitch it's final cut, I had doubts with regards to all the rain we have been having lately, but between the downpours, we managed to cut very well with the 21 inch Hayter rotary mowers, it was a long process, but ended up with a very good playing surface, just needs marking out in the morning.
Well, let's hope the team have a good start to the season tomorrow, and Tommy's squad continues to serve up the quality football that we all witnessed last season, best of luck to everyone at the club !!

Peter & Nick. Just to say thank you very much for your hard work on our pitch. I have got to say it is looking magnificent! Not just the usual start of season flush of green, but a density and quality of the surface that surpasses all you have produced before. Once again a big thanks to you both. You have given the club a pitch fit for champions! ;D ;D ;

Many thanks, redunionman, and standbangers for your kind remarks, we have done our best and hopefully the quality of the playing surface "pays off" during the season.
With regards to the moles, last season I won 5-0, but so far this season, Nick and I, are level at one each !! mind you Nick beats them over the head with a big stick !! I prefer to use a trap, but the invasion keeps on coming !! we will win in the end !!

Pitch played very well last night for Burscough 1 v. Chester 4, a very good crowd with an attendance of 774, but the Linnets faded in the second half, to a Chester side, who in my opinion, were not as good as last years team.
Prepared today, for Saturdays game, Burscough v. North Ferriby United, which will be the bottom two teams, playing for their first win of the season.
Rain is due tonight, which is exactly what the pitch requires, I will give it another fertiliser sometime next week.

Had a few days off this week, just for a rest !! left Nick to prepare the pitch for this weekends trio of games, starting tomorrow with our home fixture v. Mossley kick off 3.00pm, followed on Sunday with the WSL fixture Liverpool Ladies v Arsenal ko 2.00pm, then followed on Monday Bank Holiday fixture, Burscough v Kendal Town ko 3.00pm, oh !! to be a Groundsman !!
Just returned from the ground after the recent deluge !! pitch in perfect order, well done Nick !! after Saturday's game I will have to prepare the surface for the match on Sunday, then check the pitch again on Sunday evening, after the Liverpool Ladies game, for Burscough's fixture on Monday !!!! I think I will bring a sleeping bag, and stay overnight !!
