Many thanks Kev, the pitch has held up well this weekend, after todays Liverpool Ladies V Arsenal game with TV crews, cameramen, Press, and dozens of young footballers running all over the place !! I had to go and hide !!
Liverpool lost 3-1 to a very good Arsenal side, who were crowned Champions of the Womens Super League, Champagne everywhere !!
Pitch ok for tomorrows Burscough V. Kendal Town game ko 3.00pm, see you all at Bamber Bridge.

Very interesting day at the ground, Nick and I put on our Snorkels and Flippers, and ventured into the "Lake" we managed to find the remains of a drowned Mole (poor chap !!) and decided that Tuesdays friendly game V. Atherton would have to be called off !!
After contacting Charlie Hayes at Blaguegate we managed to arrange for the game to be played there, much to our relief !! what I do not want is the pitch to be "cut up" after all the recent rain, with more to come, all this week !!
I do not know how we can prepare the pitch for Saturdays home game v. Wakefield if this weather continues all week (which it will) but we are hoping for a break sometime over the next few days, keep your fingers crossed !!

Managed with great difficulty this week, due to all the wet weather, to prepare the pitch for tomorrow's home fixture v. Wakefield, many thanks Nick !!
Unable to give the usual fine cut, but have had to protect the surface, because of the amount of rain, which has saturated the top six inches, but the drainage has worked a treat, we will have a very good pitch, as usual, with the grass just a little bit longer !!
All the perimeter WSL advertising boards have been taken away for refurbishment, along with the TV scaffolding, so the ground looks now looks a lot different !! see you all on Saturday.

Pitch prep went well this week for Burscough v. Chorley, good surface for the game tomorrow night kick off 7.45pm, should be a good attendance.
Excellent result tonight v. Clitheroe, two outstanding goals, played in monsoon conditions, three points !! and top of the League !! what more can you ask for !! well done, Tommy and the lads !!

Please arrive early on Saturday morning, the coach departs at 9.45am, for our game at Durham, you have been warned !!

Pitch is standing up very well to the recent downpours, looking ok today after Sat/Sun games, but unable to "brush/roll" due to the drizzle, will be ok for Wednesday's afternoon, Skelmersdale & Ormskirk College V. Stafford College match k.o 1.30pm.
Dug out the footings for the "Cabin" extension balcony, to assist our renowned "Public Address" DJ's !! who are complaining that they cannot see the "Substitute Boards" clearly !! (poor chaps, it's their age) they will be able to walk out onto the extension, in full view !! and inform all the spectators who has been substituted !! please no more "rants" John & Bob !! we want to make your job easier !! doing our very best.

Recent good weather, and working conditions, has produced an excellent playing surface for Saturdays, Burscough V. FC United, kick off 3pm, should be a good game, with a good attendance. Unable to attend the AFC Fylde game, as I am helping the Burscough officials on Saturday !! give the lads a cheer for me !! good luck, and three points !! that will make my day !!

Superb weather conditions this week, pitch in excellent condition for Saturdays home fixture v. Woodley Sports, many thanks for your help Nick !!
The playing surface will have to take tomorrow's game, then Liverpool Ladies on Sunday, followed by our home game V. Salford City next Tuesday night, before we can "cut/roll" again next Wednesday !! because we are both off to Wembley on Monday/Tuesday for the Groundsman of The Year awards, with lunch, a Stadium Tour, then finish off with a walk on the "Hallowed Turf" we are both looking forward to this trip !! I think we deserve it !!

Arrived back late this evening from our trip to Wembley, after attending the Groundsman Of The Year Awards, to watch the lads gain another three points (made hard work of that one boy's !!) and put us back on top of the League, well done !!
Well, we both had a great day at Wembley, to be able to walk out onto the pitch, inspect the magnificent surface, to stand in the centre circle, and take in the awesome perspective of the towering stands, with 90,000 seats, that surround you, is a once in a lifetime experience, believe me !! But, may I say, whilst I was casting my critical eye upon the "Hallowed Turf" lo and behold, what did I find ? guess what ? a WEED !!! yes a WEED !!! to which Tony Stones, the head groundsman replied, "Trust you, McGee, John Mallinson will be pleased !!, so I carefully pocketed the evidence, brought it home, and now, can't wait to deliver to John, himself !!
Oh, and by the way, we have been awarded "Northern Premier League / Highly Commended" plaque, another trophy for the club !! we Groundsmen here at Skem do work hard you know !!we will have to purchase a larger trophy cabinet !!

After working at the ground last Friday with Nick, removing a load of broken paving stones, I stupidly have, once again !! damaged my back !! I will never learn,(still think I am 25 years old), and missed the game at Woodley, never mind, only 30 league games to worry about from now on !! going to leave all the "heavy work" to the younger members of the club !! The players will be training on the pitch Tuesday night, then Nick will have to prepare on Wednesday, (weather permitting !!) for Burscough V Northwich Victoria ko 7.45pm, should be a good game !!
