Thank you Graham for your local weather information !! yes, it will be 3c below overnight !! which means a heavy frost for Saturday morning !! at the ground today, there was a frost early morning, which dispersed quickly, and by 3.00pm the pitch surface was excellent !! Should be ok, but I will make an early morning inspection, just in case !!

Just returned from the ground, 99 per cent of the pitch is playable, but in front of the Main Stand, the top half inch is frozen !! but when you press "your key" into the surface it is very soft !! just below the frozen area !! the referee has been informed re the situation. Yesterday, the same weather conditions applied, and by 3.00pm the pitch was perfect !! so we have done our best, but it will be very close, very difficult situation, we will see!!

Down at ground today to inspect the pitch, it is now like concrete all over !! Tommy has arranged a match V. Ashton Athletic, tomorrow night Tuesday Jan 17th, if the conditions are ok. but I doubt very much, if the weather will be any different from today !! Another hard frost tonight will make the conditions even worse !! will decide tomorrow.
The College game on Wednesday is also in doubt, mild weather due on Wednesday night, continuing into Thursday, then cold Wintery conditions return on Friday/Saturday !!
As a Groundsmen I just cannot win !! just like the lads on the pitch !! never mind !! we will all overcome the problems we have at this moment in time !!

Thanks Ian, that's ok, Bryn has organised a local ref to be on standby for Saturday morning, but the weather should be ok, doubt very much if there will be a hard frost !! we will see !!
Early today, the surface was still like concrete, for Tommy's session tonight, but he said he would cope !! the College game tomorrow (Wednesday) should be playable, after the temperature rise tonight !!
After Saturday's V. Radcliffe Borough match, the total games played so far this season on our pitch, will be 53, no pitch on the planet, can take that sort of wear and tear !!

On Wedneday I was talking to Tommy with regards to changing the Dressing Rooms / Dugouts at the start of the Season, after all the recent results at home !! he promptly replied, "How soon can we change them back ? " So on Thursday we swapped the Dressing Rooms / Dugouts, back to normal !! Hurrah !! we have now exorcised the evil spirits, (and the rampant poltergeist, who was hiding the corner flags, all over the Stadium !! )
What I did not realise, that to perform the exorcism, you have to "Spill Blood", and boy !! did I spill blood !! after headbutting a dressing room window (that Nick had opened !) splitting my scalp open, the blood was everywhere !! Doctor Dave said "You had better go to the Walk in Centre " to which they superglued my head !!
Please do not blame me if the results do not go our way !! what I now realise, is that you have to "Spill Blood" for our esteemed Manager, Mr Thomas Lawson !!
Today, after wading around the pitch, with a thumping headache, and watching the tide recede, tomorrow we will have an early morning pitch inspection, and hopefully, the strong winds that are due overnight, will dry the surface out !! keep your fingers crossed !!

What a fantastic performance today !! we have all been waiting for that !! the tempo of the game was first class / first to the ball / closing down all over the pitch / pass and move / all of the players ran their socks off today, well done to Tommy and the lads !!
You all know football is a simple game, and if that energy/ skill level is maintained for the rest of the season, everyone at the club will be more than satisfied !!
Perhaps, returning back to our usual Dressing Rooms/Dugouts, has rid us of the jinx that has overshadowed our home games this season ? you never know !! when Burscough win their next home match here at Stormy Corner, "superstition" comes to mind ?

After all the rain this week, the drainage has been working overtime, (standing water everywhere late this afternoon) the temperature is now falling, which will mean that any remaining surface water, will be frozen on Saturday morning, creating more problems !! for the Burscough V. Whitby Town game. K.O. 3.00 pm. Will be at ground early Saturday morning, for a pitch inspection.

Exactly what I predicted, has happened overnight !! pitch frozen solid !! today's Burscough v. Whitby game, now postponed. Our game at Harrogate will go ahead, they had no rain yesterday, and only a mild overnight frost !! see you later !!

Weather forecast for the coming week is not good !! with sub zero temperatures overnight, with -5c, later in week !! next Saturdays fixture, Burscough v. Hednesford Town could be a problem !! with another heavy frost Friday night, we will see !!
Hopefully this week (if weather allows) we will be injecting sand into the areas of the pitch, that have recently been holding standing water, causing all the problems !!
Postponed games are no good for anyone !! but you cannot argue with Mother Nature, if she want's Stormy Corner to be frozen solid, it will be !! will do our very best.

Very busy week down at the ground !! with the new "sand bands" installation completed, this procedure should alleviate the "standing water "problems that we have recently been having.
The surface looks a bit of a mess, ( at this moment in time) but all we need is a good downpour !! which believe it or not, light rain is expected on Thursday and Friday !! which will most probably freeze !! and add to the already frozen (like concrete !!) surface that we have tonight (Wednesday).
All the Evo-Stik games this week have so far been postponed due to the frozen conditions, so we will have to see how the weather develops on Thursday/Friday, with regards to our home fixture V.Cammell Lairds on Saturday, we can leave the decision until 11.00am on Saturday morning, will keep you all informed A.S.A.P
Groundsman, Peter.

After all the rain today, the surface is so hard ( like concrete) the rain water has just not been able to drain away !! hopefully, the temperature will rise over the next two days, but it will be touch and go !! if we can prepare (and repair) the surface for Saturday !! Another update on Friday night !!

Worked on the "Cabin" over the weekend, looking good inside, should complete this week, then concentrate on the exterior, over the next fortnight.
I would just like thank Paul, Nick, Billy, Arthur, and Bob for all their input over the last few weeks, it makes everything easier when you have so much help !! many thanks boys.
Pitch prep this week, for the Academy games on Wednesday night, it just needs a good "Drag Mat" over the surface, and marking out !!

The weather has been kind this week, pitch having "a rest" only two training sessions, and a College game !! but the grass is starting to grow !!
A big thank you to Paul, Nick, Billy, Arthur, for their recent efforts over the past month, to enable us to finish the interior decor, of the "Cabin" (or should I now call it the "Ritz") we as a Club, should all be very proud of the final finish that has been achieved, there will not be many "Hospitality Suites" that will be better, well done lads !! We now need to finish off the exterior panels, during the next week, to rid ourselves of what was becoming an "eyesore" !!
Just to finish off , we have been invaded by a very large, and persistent "Mole", who was about to take a corner, when he dived back underground !! his day's are numbered, as today I set the trap to end his day's, their breeding time is January / February, so more "Junior" moles will be on the rampage very soon !!
All the volunteers for Sunday have confirmed tonight, many thanks to you all !! could be a problem trying to find enough cups for all the tea that will be required !!

We have never stopped all week !! well done, Paul, Nick, and Billy !! replaced another section of the Clubhouse floor.
Pitch in good condition, after another Verti Drain, and hand seeding, just need a nice quick drop of rain !! for tomorrow's home game v. Garforth Town, but I don't think we will get one !!
I will require some volunteers over the next few Sunday's, please let me know when you are available, and don't let me down this time !!
