I managed to remove one blade of grass in the paving at the Clubhouse end, just before they arrived for the inspection, I believe Neville was having nightmares, in case they found any weeds he had missed !! close shave !! just wait until I see him again !!

Arrived down at the ground today at 5pm, after the Liverpool v Bristol Ladies game which the Reds lost 4 - 1, to prepare the pitch for tomorrow's home game v. Prescot Cables.
Not a lot was achieved, because the rain arrived, and put a stop to everything !! so they will have to have the surface as it is !! (Nick will mark out early in the morning) so I departed at 7pm, soaking wet, and went home !!
Just to finish off, whoever was in attendance today, left the outside toilets unlocked, and the lights on !! that sort of memory lapse, costs the Football Club money, which we can ill afford !!

Pitch prep went well today, for our penultimate home game V. Durham City tomorrow, ko 3pm.
Surface now showing the 76 games to date, plus training on Tuesday/Thursday, and quite a few more local Finals yet to play !! total will exceed 90 plus !! before we take down the Goal Posts, and then we start again !! no rest for Groundsmen, unfortunately !! see you at the game.

As I have just mentioned on the "Lairds Game" post, pitch is fine, same as last Saturday !! let's hope for a good result, before our "Battle Of The Roses" v. Garforth on Saturday !!

Well, that's another season over !! many thanks Tommy and the lads, for another nail biting end to the season, great games !! great goals !! what more could we all ask for, we will be Champions at some point !! let's hope it will be next season !!
Just to let you all know, I am taking a well earned break, over the next few months, after eight seasons of, none stop pitch maintenance, (without a break ) so I am leaving the work to Nick, for him to "Learn the hard way " by doing all the necessary jobs himself, with I hope some assistance from all the volunteers out there !! I will still visit the ground, maybe once a week, just to keep my eye on everything, to ensure that the grass is growing !!
So many thanks for your comments on this well read "post" and look forward to keeping you all informed later on in the Summer !!
Bye for now, Groundsman Peter.

Over the past week, I have called in at the ground a few times, just to see how much progress has been made !! many thanks to the "Usual Crew" for their sterling efforts over the past few weeks, may it continue.
Plus (hopefully) added support from all the supporters out there !! please be free to join in !! come down to the ground !! bring your wheelbarrows and spades !! it's your club as well !! even if you brew up for us !! every little helps !!
The reseeding of the pitch is going well, grass appearing everywhere !! have organised a further top dressing of "Rootzone" plus another drillseed which will be applied a.s.a.p
Going into Hospital on Thursday for a knee operation, so I will not be around over the next week or two, so please, if you have any spare time, try to get down to the ground, it would be much appreciated.

Thank you Graham, recovery going well, surgeon said I was suitable for an Epidural, which enables a faster recovery, so I watched the whole procedure on TV !! in full colour, and a running commentary !! how they insert a reciprocal saw, plus a vacuum suction device, inside a narrow tube, has to be seen, to be believed !! Ouch !!

Called into ground on Saturday, the "Usual Crew" were all working hard on all the necessary jobs that need completing before the Liverpool Ladies V. Chelsea game next Sunday July 1st.
The pitch looks good ( thanks to Nick, for all his hard work) but there are still areas that are not quite fully established, which will be addressed after the Ladies game !!
We will have four weeks to complete all the remaining jobs, before our pre season friendly against Southport on Tuesday July 24th k.o 7.45pm !!
Once again I would like to thank all the "Usual Crew Members" for their sterling work during the close season, without the help received, we would be in a right state !!
What still confounds me, personally, especially this season, is the total lack of response from my continual requests on this Forum for assistance down at the Stadium, it is just too much to rely upon the "Usual Crew" no wonder they are all a "bit fed up" with the lack of support !!
Please try, over the next month, to make some time free, to come down and assist with the remaining jobs, whatever time you have, an hour, two hours, will be greatly appreciated !!

Pitch now looking very good !! grass cut yesterday, excellent shade of green, after the recent fertiliser application !! all marked out today (between the showers) big thank you to Nick, and Billy, well done boys !!
If anybody out there can spare some time on Saturday morning, to finish off the remaining jobs, before Sundays match, we will be there, from 10.00am, erecting the goal posts etc, and hopefully, with your help, everything will be ready !!
As Lord Kitchener once said "Your Country Needs You" ( pointing the "Big Finger" ) well now "Your Football Club Needs You" !! (I will not point the Big Finger, promise) !!

Pitch cut again today ( after an early start by Nick) it is now looking superb !! the grass is now growing at a tremendous rate !! Paul was connecting up the new drainage access points, which should ease the problems we have had in the past.
After this Sundays match, we will commence with the laying of the Astro Turf, down the Main Stand side of the pitch, and hopefully this will be as successful as the section in front of the players "dugouts" which was a great help, last season !!
Please don't forget my previous thread, regarding all the help, that will be required tomorrow (Saturday) to complete the tidying up around the Stadium, all the extra assistance we have, will make a big difference !! do your Football Club a big favour, that's all I ask.

Well !! what can I say !! what a great turnout today !! many, many, thanks to all of the volunteers, for the effort that was put in, to tidy up the Stadium, credit to all concerned !!
When you get that number (16) of helpers, it makes the task so much easier, I hope this sort of enthusiasm, continues over the remaining weeks, before we kick off the season, because we have many more jobs to complete, we have not finished yet !!
Once again, a terrific job, well done !!

Pitch cut again today( before the rain arrives) looking better each time, you have to cut at least three times a week at this time of the year, to make sure that the sward, is cut in every direction, for a good healthy growth rate.
Astro Turf section going ahead as planned, so far so good !! but don't forget, if you have any spare time during the week (an odd hour or two) your help would be appreciated.
Caught another Mr Mole (RIP) I did warn him !! but he would not listen !!

Another cut today, whilst the dry weather is around !! will be at the ground all this week, if there is anybody out there with any spare time during the day, you would be very welcome !!
Only 14 days to kick off v. Southport !! time waits for no man !! and we are running out of time !!
